Brian K. Rice is a mechanical engineer, business development manager, author, and real estate developer.

Rice earned his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering at Alabama A&M University, and was captain of the Bulldogs baseball team. He began his career as a construction manager for the Defense Department in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He left that job to work as a business development manager for manufacturing companies and has worked from Charlotte, North Carolina and Houston, Texas.

Rice returned to Birmingham in 2013 to launch Heroes Bridge, a mentoring program for youths and aspiring business owners. He has written three books related to that program.

Rice is also active in civic efforts. He has participated in Big Brothers Big Sisters, has been a long-time member of the Urban League, and chairs the board for the Birmingham YMCA Youth Center.

In 2018 Rice acquired several vacant commercial properties along 19th Street Ensley which he plans to redevelop for community-based businesses and non-profits.
