Brookside Civic Complex
The Brookside Civic Complex is 10-acre complex located at 2711 Municipal Lane just off of Brookside-Coalburg Road in Brookside, AL.
In May 2003 Five Mile Creek caused a major flood which destroyed much of the downtown area in Brookside. In 2004, another flood wiped out many of the remaining structures.
After much planning, construction on a new civic complex began in December 2007 and the town hall was completed in September 2008. The new town hall was patterned after Brookside’s own Russian Orthodox Church. The town hall houses the mayor's office, council chambers, pre-council meeting room, water department, police department and two jail cells. In addition, other structures that are included in the complex include a community center, a fire station, storm shelter, and a U.S. Post Office. The basement of the fire station has a large community storm shelter that can accommodate up to 300 residents.
In 2009 the Brookside History Museum was relocated to the civic complex.
Construction work on the complex was done by Bennet Construction of Homewood.
