Charlotte Shaw

Charlotte Shaw is the chief executive and executive director of the Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority, having succeeded Frank Martin in 2021.

Shaw grew up in St Louis, Missouri. She earned her bachelor of arts in political science, public administration, urban studies, and pre-law from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in 1983. She began working in contract management and worked for General Dynamics, McDonnell-Douglas, SunTrust Bank, Oracle, and the U.S. Department of Defense, before ending up in Atlanta, Georgia as manager of budgets for long-term planning.

Shaw was hired by Mayor Randall Woodfin to serve as the city's deputy director of capital projects in January 2020, focusing on the development of the city's Bus Rapid Transit system. In October 2021 she succeeded Frank Martin as director of the area's public transit authority. She was a member of the 2023–2024 class of Leadership Birmingham.
