Chief Hewitt Park, February 2011

The Chief William C. "Billy" Hewitt Park is a Tarrant City Park opened in 2006 off Pinson Valley Parkway along Five Mile Creek. The park was dedicated on March 15, 2008.

Over the years, flooding from Five Mile Creek caused more and more damage, including a devastating flood in Tarrant in 2000 that destroyed a mobile home park. Tarrant's Fire Chief Billy Hewitt began campaigning to convert the former trailer park into a city park. In 2002 he met with Wendy Jackson of the Freshwater Land Trust and founded the Five Mile Creek Greenway Partnership.

In 2023 Tarrant police responded to a 911 call of a dog attack at the park. A man was critically injured and a woman who tried to help him also suffered serious injuries. Officers shot one dog to death and injured another, which was turned over to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
