Clifford Stiles was a one-time owner of the Redmont Hotel in downtown Birmingham and later a state official.

Stiles purchased the hotel in 1946 and added a penthouse apartment for himself and his family the following year. He joined the staff of Governor of Alabama "Big Jim" Folsom in 1947 and was appointed president of the Alabama State Bridge Commission.

In 1972 Stiles died and his widow moved to Florida. Some say he continues to haunt the hotel building; walking the halls, moving objects and locking doors.
