Crestwood Christian Church
Crestwood Christian Church was a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) located at 5901 Crestwood Boulevard. It was originally known as 57th Street Christian Church and located at 125 57th Street North adjacent to the Wood Family Cemetery. Later while it was still at this location in Woodlawn it became known as Woodlawn Christian Church.
57th Street building
Its brick Gothic-revival auditorium church on 57th Steet was was constructed around 1925. This building was included as a contributing property to the Woodlawn Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. in 2016, this building was donated to the GraceWorks ministry of Grace Episcopal Church and renovations began to make the building a center for this ministry called GracePlace.
Crestwood Boulevard building
In 1967 the congregation moved Crestwood Boulevard and adopted the name Crestwood Christian Church. In its new location, the church owned a 4-rank, 2-manual pipe organ originally built by Aeolian-Skinner Organ Co. (ca. 1942). The church closed by 2016 and its building became home of the Alabama Waldorf School.
