Doug Brewer

Doug Brewer Jr is a former Mayor of Graysville.

Brewer was elected to the mayor's office in 2004 and re-elected in 2008. In the last year of his second term, Brewer, who also served as superintendent of Graysville's Gas and Water utility, was named in a petition calling for an investigation into his treatment of female employees. In March 2012 another petition, filed by five residents, accused the mayor of incompetence, neglect of duties, corruption and abuse of power, was delivered to the Graysville City Council. Brewer responded by filing a defamation suit.

In July 2012 the Council found the complaints in the first petition credible and removed him from the gas and water utility. In August the Council was to have held an impeachment hearing, but instead reached a legal agreement with Brewer involving his immediate resignation from the Mayor's office. He was succeeded by Mayor Pro Tem Mary Sue Morgan.
