Pasted-up design drawing of the Seal of Alabama adopted in 1939 from the general files of the Alabama Department of Archives and History (link). It is captioned as an "original drawing of the Alabama State Seal that was adopted by the legislature in 1939", but appears to specifically be the artwork used in a 1941 WPA booklet, and may have been produced for that purpose.

The depiction differs from the widely-adopted official seal by labeling the Perdido and Chattahoochee Rivers and using a single star on the left and right edges of the circular border. The handwritten letterforms used for the words "Alabama Great Seal" are also distinctive with exaggerated contrast between thick and thin strokes, angled serifs, and a wavy middle leg of the E.

Media Type: Official seal
This is an official seal of a government body, department, board or agency. Its use may be restricted by law.
