Memorial Plaque on Morris Avenue for firefighters Gip Spruiell and E.B. Huffman. The plaque reads: On this site along Morris Avenue, two fire fighters were trapped by falling walls at a fierce pre-dawn fire on July 3, 1905. E.B. HUFFMAN and G.B. Such unselfish dedication to duty was typical of all who have made it a profession to protect the lives and property of others from fire. This memorial is dedicated to all members of the Birmingham Fire Department who have died or been injured in the line of duty, and erected during the centennial year of organized fire protection. Mayor George G. Seibels, Jr. Fire Chief John L. Swindle COuncilman Russell Yarbrough Public Safety Committee Chairman.
