The Five Mile Creek Greenway Partnership (formally the Five Mile Creek Greenway Capital Improvement Cooperative District, also called the Five Mile Creek District) is a multi-governmental partnership created in 2002 to pursue development of the 16.5-mile Five Mile Creek Greenway recreational trail, which also includes "blueway" recreational access along Five Mile Creek along its course from Chalkville to the Locust Fork River.

The partnership got its start when Tarrant Fire Chief Billy Hewitt, who was looking to convert a dilapidated and flood-ravaged mobile home park into a new city park, met with Wendy Jackson of the Freshwater Land Trust, who was looking to acquire land along the stream as part of the Jefferson County Greenways Program.

The cities of Birmingham, Brookside, Center Point, Fultondale, Gardendale, Graysville, and Tarrant all signed on, along with Jefferson County. The Cawaco RC&D Council and the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham also got involved to promote the project. Various private organizations such as the Alabama Power Service Organization and Vulcan Materials have also contributed volunteer labor and materials.
