Glenn Ford is the chief executive officer of Green Solar Companies, which is developing a manufacturing center for structural insulated panels in Birmingham.

Ford grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Parker High School. He went on to earn degrees at Tuskegee University and Atlanta University before beginning his career in commercial lending. Through discussions with Hill Phoenix of Atlanta, which manufactures and installs walk-in freezers, he became interested in the potential for structural insulated panels to revolutionize residential construction.

After a successful recruitment and an agreement on incentives from the city, Ford began developing a new manufacturing and training center on property his family owned at 31 1st Avenue North.
