Grandmother's garden

Grandmother's garden is a re-creation of a historical domestic garden planted by the Birmingham Historical Society outside their office at Sloss Quarters. Director Marjorie White began the garden with heirloom hollyhock and four o'clock seeds she brought from Monticello. She enlisted help from Jefferson County Extension Office agent Sallie Lee.

In addition to traditional flowers, the garden features several vegetables, herbs and medicinal plants that have traditionally been planted in kitchen gardens in the South.
