J's Charity Bingo
Jay's Charity Bingo or J's Charity Bingo was one or more electronic bingo parlors operating in Jefferson County.
One of more of the businesses were formerly operated by Jamal Ali Abdulahe, who also operated Adamsville Charity Bingo and High Horse Charity Bingo, as well as All Wireless, Phone & Tobacco Shop, and Pike Road Discount Market.
In March 2023 fires were reported at the doorways of J's Charity Bingo at 5127 Pinson Valley Parkway, and another bingo parlor at 4149 Pinson Boulevard. No one was injured and damage was slight. The Center Point Fire District investigated the fires.
In April 2023 Jay's Charity Bingo at 1329 Eastern Valley Road was one of 14 bingo halls raided by the Attorney General of Alabama and order to close under a restraining order.
By May 2023, Jay's Charity Bingo had opened in the former J & J Discount Pharmacy at 6501 Avenue K in Lipscomb.
Abdulahe was shot to death on November 2, 2023 in a car-to-car assault at the Marathon gas station at 4567 Pinson Valley Parkway in Birmingham's Echo Highlands neihgborhood. A female was injured when he wrecked his car nearby. Abdulahe was believed to have been targeted. There have been no arrests.
In August 2024 several electronic bingo machines held as evidence at the shuttered Charity Bingo parlor in Selma, Dallas County, were recovered in a back room at Jay's Charity Bingo in Lipscomb, still bearing evidence stickers. Charles Allen Robinson, Charles Vanderford Jr, Eric Daniel Hurt, Michael Ray, and William Patrick Humphries were arrested and charged with third-degree burglary.
