J-R

J-R (born c. 2000; died March 29, 2014) was a drug detection dog with the Irondale Police Department.

J-R began working as a one-year-old and was assigned to Sergeant Kevin Pounders. In 2006 he was handed over to Sergeant Kyle Roberson. In addition to assisting Irondale police, he supported multi-agency operations with the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service and neighboring jurisdictions. He also participated in police outreach programs at Irondale City Schools.

J-R collapsed on Friday, March 28, 2014 from a burst tumor on his spleen. He was euthanized the following day.
