J. Bryan Whitworth

Jennings Bryan Whitworth (born c. 1938 in Louisiana) is an attorney for Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz of New York, New York and a former executive at Phillips Petroleum and ConocoPhillips of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

He is the son of former Alabama Crimson Tide football head coach J. B. "Ears" Whitworth and started college at Alabama in 1954, the year his father took over the head coaching job. He completed his undergraduate degree in 1958 and is a 1961 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law.

Whitworth joined Phillips Petroleum in the early 1970s as a senior attorney specializing in government relations. He became head of Phillips corporate and government relations and human resources and services divisions in 1988. He was promoted to senior vice president and general counsel in 1996 and to executive vice president and chief administrative officer in 2001. When the company merged with Conoco, Whitworth remained executive vice-president.

After retiring from ConocoPhillips, Whitworth became counsel for Wachtell, Lipton, Rozen and Katz, a New York law firm specializing in mergers and acquitions.

Whitworth married Donna Axum, a former Miss America from Arkansas, on March 1, 1984. The couple reside in Fort Worth, Texas and have five children and eight grandchildren between them.
