Jack Mann

Jack Mann (born c. 1939 in Mobile; died December 31, 2018) was an actor and stage director.

Mann grew up in Mobile and moved to Birmingham to attend Birmingham-Southern College. As a senior he was on the staff of The Hilltop News and co-directed the Miss Southern Accent pageant. He graduated with a major in English and began teaching and counseling at Phillips High School before leaving to work in employee development for Alagasco.

Mann was encouraged to audition for the Town & Gown Theater's 1963 production of "The Music Man". There he met Suzanne Moncrief, whom he married two years later. In 1976 the couple joined Jim and Cathy Rye as members of the "Wits Other End" comedy troupe.

Mann has also served on the boards of the Birmingham Music Club, Birmingham Boys Choir, Birmingham Festival Theatre, and Birmingham Children's Theatre.

Mann died in December 2018. His memorial service was held at St Mary's-on-the-Highlands Episcopal Church.
