James Perryman

James "Romeo" Perryman (born 1954 - died March 27, 2007) was a basketball coach at Holy Family High School, leading them to state championships in 1986, 1987 and 2002.

Perryman grew up in Birmingham, attending A. G. Gaston Middle School and graduating from Wenonah High School and Alcorn State University, where he was a kicker on their national championship football team. He joined the faculty at Holy Family as a physical education and health teacher.

Perryman died of a heart attack while playing in a golf fundraiser for the school at the Oxmoor Valley Golf Course. He was taken to Brookwood Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. He was survived by his parents Bernice and Arthur Perryman, two brothers, Michael and Phillip, and a sister, Sharranieda. Services were held at Holy Family and Perryman was interred at Elmwood Cemetery.
