The Jefferson County Commission Accountability Act (Acts of Alabama No. 2009-662) is a law passed in August 2009 by the Alabama Legislature in an attempt to make the county's operations more transparent. It allows the Jefferson County Commission to hire a county manager to oversee day to day operations and a comptroller to review expenditures by April 2011 and requires the publication of financial documents, meeting minutes and contracts on the county's website by May 2010.

The law, introduced as House Bill 358 of the 2009 session, was sponsored in the Alabama House of Representatives by Paul DeMarco, with the support of most of the Jefferson County Legislative Delegation (Representative Mary Moore was alone in opposition). It passed the house on February 24 and was amended in the Alabama Senate. It passed both houses in its amended form on May 14, 2009 and was delivered to Governor Bob Riley's office the next morning.

By June 2010, the County had published only a fraction of the documentation required to be put online by the law.
