Justin J. Cassell (born September 25, 1984 in Northridge, California) is a right-handed pitcher for the 2008 Birmingham Barons. He is the younger brother of former San Diego Padres pitcher Jack Cassell and New England Patriots back-up quarterback Matt Cassell. The three were raised by Barbara Cassell, an Emmy-winning television art director who divorced in 1994.

Cassell graduated from Chatsworth High School where he played both baseball and football, backing up his brother Matt as a freshman. He continued playing baseball at the University of California in Irvine. His 15-strikeout game against UC Santa Barbara earned him a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week award. He was drafted in the 7th round of the 2006 amateur draft by the Chicago White Sox and played for the Winston-Salem Warthogs before being promoted to Birmingham for the 2008 season.

Cassell was named "Southern League Pitcher of the Week" for the first week of May 2008 after making four consecutive starts (23 1/3 innings) without giving up an earned run. As of July 22 Cassell has started 20 games with a 7-3 record and a 2.89 ERA over 118.1 innings pitched. He has recorded 70 strikeouts with 5 home runs and has walked 36 batters.

Cassell was named to the roster of the Southern League's South Division All-Star team and recorded three outs in an inning of work during the All-Star Game on July 14 in Zebulon, North Carolina.
