H. M. Krishna Murthy is a former scientist at UAB's Center of Biophysical Sciences and Engineering. He came to UAB in 1998 from Temple University in Philadephia, Pennsylvania. His contract was not renewed in February 2009.

Murthy's published results in identifying the molecular structures of proteins associated with Dengue fever were challenged by peers and later found to have been fabricated. UAB's committee on scientific integrity began its investigation in January 2007 and concluded in 2009 that his research was falsified. His nine published papers were retracted by their publishers and his eleven protein descriptions removed from the Research Collaboratory for Structural Bioinformatics' protein data bank.
