Making Alabama: A Bicentennial Traveling Exhibit was one of the signature events throughout Alabama in celebration of 200 years of statehood. The exhibit traveled to all 67 counties from March 2018 through November 2019, leading up to the Alabama Bicentennial celebration of statehood date on December 14, 2019. It is an effort to preserve and present our state’s storied history with a focus on the decisions and turning points that shaped Alabama.

The roving display consists of a mix of tablets and panels featuring original artwork and information to retell Alabama’s first 200 years. Homewood’s Tatum Design and Anniston’s Southern Custom Exhibits designed and constructed the panels, while Dothan’s AAA Cooper Transportation carted the display materials across the state. Four exhibits were built, and they traveled the state concurrently so that all counties were able to experience this event in the 2018/2019 time period.
