Marian Woods

Marian Ann Dowdell Woods (born c. 1932 in Birmingham - died June 16, 2009 in Birmingham) was an educator, librarian, and, for 60 years the wife of noted Civil Rights activist Abraham Woods Jr.

She married Woods when she was 16 years old. She was a lifelong supporter of her husband's work, usually seen at his side during public appearances as well as movement meetings.

Mrs Woods worked as a librarian at the Avondale Library and was head librarian at the Titusville Library for many years.

She cared for her husband when his health declined until his death on November 7, 2008 even though she was also ill herself. She died while receiving care at Princeton Baptist Medical Center and is buried with her husband at Elmwood Cemetery.
