Mark Ridgeway

Mark Edward Ridgeway (born November 29, 1964 in Birmingham; died January 25, 2023 in Kimberly) was a history teacher and bus driver at Mortimer Jordan High School, and a minister at Faith Worship Center in Sumiton.

Mark was one of three sons of William and Gail Ridgeway. He graduated from Mortimer Jordan in 1983 and completed a bachelor of science in secondary education and teaching at UAB in 1989. He began his teaching career at Sumiton Christian School. In 1994 he took a job as a salesman for Standard Furniture Co., then returned to teaching at his alma mater in 1996.

He married his wife Connie in 1986 and had four children.

Ridgeway was killed when an unoccupied bus he was checking before driving his route rolled back and pinned him against another bus.
