Moss Rock Preserve is a 349-acre public park in Hoover. It contains about 12 miles of hiking trails and features two notable waterfalls, as well as smaller shoals and cascades. The waterfalls are formed by Hurricane Branch, which runs east to west through the entire preserve. It creates a unique divide between the south slope of Shades Mountain and the north slope of the smaller Pine Mountain. The park contains 80 or more huge boulders of variable size that are popular with rock climbers.

The Moss Rock Festival was held at the Preserve until 2021 when it moved to the Hoover Met.

In 2021 most of the movie "Abandonment" featuring Richard Dryfess was filmed in the park.

In January 2022 the city of Hoover secured a $110,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs to help make the park more accessible to people with mobility issues.
