Naughty But Nice Kettle Corn Co.
Naughty But Nice Kettle Corn Co. (NBNKC) is a popcorn maker and retailer founded in 2014 by former investment banker and digital marketing specialist Tanesha Sims-Summers with her husband Clem and friend Tiffany Turner.
The business was suggested by Sims-Summers aunt, who had seen the success of a similar company in Virginia. It originally operated from her father's party supply store in Five Points West. Sims-Summers brought a trailer to public events, beginning with Irondale's Whistle Stop Festival. The founders worked with REV Birmingham's Co.Starters program to plan for expansion.
In 2018 the company established a brick-and-mortar production facility at 5363 1st Avenue North in Woodlawn. A year later, a new food truck, dubbed Ms. Poppy, replaced the former trailer for events. In addition to festivals and farmers' markets, Naughty But Nice packages their product for retail sale, for promotions, and for gift baskets.
In 2021 Naughty But Nice Kettle Corn Co. was selected, along with Ursula Smith Co. and Pinsperation, to participate in MasterCard's "Priceless" campaign, supporting Black-owned creative businesses.
