Phil Turkett

Phil Turkett (born c. 1952) was an official in the Birmingham Department of Planning, Engineering and Permits from 1984 to 2014.

Turkett graduated from Banks High School in 1970. He completed a bachelor's degree in political science and government at the University of Alabama in 1975 and a master's in public administration at UAB in 1988. In his 30-year career with the City of Birmingham he has served as a zoning inspector, zoning supervisor and zoning administrator. He retired in 2014.

Turkett has also served as a Community Resource Officer and as a member of the Hoover Planning Commission. He ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the Birmingham City Council in the 1997 Birmingham municipal election.

Turkett and his wife, Lisa Harris reside in Hoover and have two daughters.
