Philip Copeland

Philip L. Copeland is the music director for the Birmingham Concert Chorale. Previously the director of the UAB Concert Chorale, he succeeded Mark Ridings as leader of the volunteer group which functions as the official chorus for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

Copeland is also chair of the College and University Choirs - Repertoire and Standards committee for the Alabama Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association and represents the ACDA on the board of ChoralNet, a non-profit resource center for the choral music community.

Copeland has degress from Mississippi College and the University of Mississippi as well as a doctorate from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He directed the University of Mississippi choir before coming to UAB.

Copeland and his wife Leigh are the parents of triplets: Catherine, Caroline and Claire.
