IPG Photonics Southeast Technology Center (formerly Photonics Innovations) is a manufacturer of tunable middle infrared laser materials and equipment for the scientific and biomedical research and technology industry. It is a division of the Oxford, Massachusetts-based IPG Photonics and is headquartered at 100 Lucerne Lane in Birmingham's Oxmoor neighborhood.
Photonics Innovations was founded in 2007 by UAB researcher Sergey Mirov and was housed at the Innovation Depot until it moved to its own facility at 2413 Jacobs Road in Vestavia Hills in 2008. Photonics Innovations was acquired by IPG Photonics in 2010. It's Birmingham offices operate as IPG's Southeast Technology Center and Mid-Infrared Lasers division.
