Raymond Culpepper

Raymond F. Culpepper (born August 19, 1949) is a Pentecostal pastor, author, and the Administrative Bishop of Alabama for the Cleveland, Tennessee-based Church of God denomination.

Culpepper is the son of J. Frank and Kohatha Culpepper. He earned his bachelor of science at the Church of God-affiliated Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, and a master's in theology from California Graduate School of Theology in Garden Grove, California. He married the former Peggy Price in 1970 while working as a student pastor. In 1972 he began his career in ministry as the denomination's state youth and Christian education director for northern California. He was promoted from there to Indiana in 1974 and to Alabama in 1976.

Culpepper founded the Riverchase Church of God in Hoover in August 1980, and then oversaw its merger with Vestavia Church of God to form the Metropolitan Church of God, which he served as pastor until 2004. After leaving the pulpit, Culpepper served two terms as First Assistant General Overseer for the Church of God. In 2008 he was elected General Overseer by the Church of God General Assembly, and served until 2012, at which time he assumed the role of Administrative Bishop of Alabama.

Culpepper is a prolific author, having published several books through his own PowerLiving Ministries and from the Church of God's Pathway Press. He served for twelve years as chairman of the Board of Directors at his alma mater, Lee University.

Culpepper and his wife have three children: Raymond II, Elizabeth and Jessica.
