Reg's Coffee House
Reg's Coffee House is a syndicated radio music program produced and hosted by Scott Register on WRAX-FM and WWMM-FM from January 1997 to February 2010. After a ten-month absence, the show returned on the internet radio station "The Mountain", returning to the airwaves with that station on FM 107.3 in July 2013.
The program was a Sunday mid-day staple at WRAX (at FM 105.9, FM 107.7 and FM 100.5), occupying a a three-hour time slot from January 1997 to November 2006. The program, which has introduced numerous artists to the Birmingham market, gained a dedicated following. Many of the songs which debuted on the program later made it into the regular rotation during WRAX's peak under program director Dave Rossi. The show contributed greatly to the X's national reputation as a cutting-edge alternative.
On November 29, 2006, Citadel Communication pulled the plug on the X and switched FM 100.5 to WJOX's sports talk format. After talks with several stations, the show returned to the air in its present four-hour format with a Christmas special on Sunday, December 24, 2006 on WYSF FM 94.5. Nine other radio stations across the country syndicate a one-hour version of the program.
A 10-year anniversary concert was held on February 17, 2007 at the Alabama Theatre, headlined by Patty Griffin.
Beginning Sunday July 27, 2008 the show was moved to FM 100.5 ("Live 100.5"). A special Friday edition of the show was aired August 15 to announce the station's new call sign (WWMM-FM) and format, which was "adult album alternative" or AAA.
On February 14, 2010, amid indications that the station would switch over to a talk radio format, Register played pointed songs such as "Ain't No Grave" by Johnny Cash and "Uprising" by Muse, acknowledging the outpouring of support on Facebook for the doomed station.
In December of that year, the program resurfaced on start-up internet radio station "The Mountain".
