Robert Knight

Robert "Corky" Knight (born c. 1955) was public safety director for the city of Pleasant Grove, supervising the Pleasant Grove Police Department and Pleasant Grove Fire Department from 2009 until his retirement in 2023.

Knight started his career with the Center Point Fire District in 1978. He attended the Alabama Police Academy in 1981 and transferred to the Graysville Police Department. In 1982 he began working for the Pleasant Grove Police Department. He was promoted from patrolman, to narcotics investigator, and then to sergeant.

Knight served as acting director after the death of William Waites in March 2009. He was made the permanent director by Mayor Jerry Brasseale on August 26 of that year. He returned for training at the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Recruit Academy in 2011.

Captain and acting police chief Danny Reid was promoted to Director of Public Safety on February 21, 2023 following Knight's retirement.
