SamAmp is a maker of custom-built guitar amplifiers. Each is designed and built by Sam Timberlake. Timberlake invented a "variable amplitude clipping" control scheme to balance the vacuum tube circuitry and control output power to the speaker, improving on the standard design which converts excess power into heat. Timberlake has applied for a patent for the circuit design and sells a variety of hand-built amplifiers using the innovation. The cases are hand-built with traditional materials including tweed and fine speaker cloth and are sold through guitar dealers across the United States in an Tokyo, Japan.
