Shelley Tyree

Lynda Michele "Shelley" Tyree is chief of campus police at the University of Montevallo.

Tyree has studied and trained at Gadsden State Community College, Auburn University-Montgomery, the Northeast Alabama Police Academy, Jacksonville State University. the University of Montevallo, and the FBI's law enforcement executive program.

Tyree worked as an investigator for the Calhoun County District Attorney and as a police officer for Jacksonville State University and the Bessemer Police Department.

She joined the University's department as a patrol officer in 2000, was promoted to assistant chief in 2004 and assumed the duties of interim chief after John Lee's retirement in February 2008. She was appointed to the position permanently on December 3 of that year.

In October 2010 Tyree was arrested on a domestic violence charge at her home in Calera. She was subsequently placed on administrative leave.
