The Standard at Midtown was a planned $40 million residential building at the corner of 18th Street and 1st Avenue South overlooking the Railroad Reservation Park. The project was being developed by Corporate Realty Development, represented by president Jimmy Holloway.

Progress on pre-selling units and scheduling construction was held up by the lack of a firm timetable on the Railroad Park which would be the principal attraction for the Standard's location. Holloway said that he expected construction of the Standard to follow immediately on the heels of groundbreaking for the park project, which was then anticipated for January 2008.

In its December 11 meeting, the Birmingham City Council removed completion of the Standard at Midtown from commitments that CRD entered into as part of a Redevelopment Agreement with the City of Birmingham.
