Steel City Jazz Festival
The Steel City Jazz Festival is a two-day jazz festival which debuted on the weekend of June 6-7, 2014 at Linn Park. The festival was organized by Cedric Allen's non-profit Empowerment, Inc.
2014
Performers included Will Downing, Ken Ford, Gregg Karukas, Jessy J, Jonathan Butler, Alex Bugnon, Euge Groove, Karen Briggs, Jeff Kashiwa, Nick Colionne, Gail Johnson, Marcus Anderson, Kim Scott, Bobby Caldwell, Robin Bramlett, and Norman Brown.
Two-day passes for the inaugural festival were $50 advance general admission, $80 at the gate, and $120 for VIP privileges.
2015
An estimated 30,000 people attended the 2015 festival at Linn Park, generating an estimated economic impact of nearly $3 million for the area. Performers included Alvin Garrett & Logan, War, Najee, Nick Colionne, Lalah Hathaway, Ben Tankard, Peter White, and Kim Scott.
2016
The 2016 line-up included Tranquility, Marcus Anderson, Mindi Abair & BoneShakers, Marion Meadows & Paul Taylor, Boney James, and Morris Day & the Time on Friday and Kyle Turner, Michael Ward, Althea Rene, Latrese Bush, Ben Tankard, Jazz Funk Soul (Chuck Loeb, Jeff Lorber, and Evertt Harp), Maysa, BWB (Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum, and Norman Brown), David Sanborn, Ken Ford, and Maze with Frankie Beverly on Saturday.
2022
The 2022 festival was held June 17–18 at Linn Park. Performers included the Isley Brothers, Boney James, Musiq Soulchild, Jonathan Butler, Maysa, Alex Bugnon, Kirk Whalum, Damien Escobar, Marion Meadows, Vincent Ingala, Keiko Matsui, Peter White, Euge Groove, Kyle Turner, Eric Essix, Lao Tizer, Chieli Minucci, Elliott Yamin, Karen Briggs, Eric Marienthal, Joel Rosenblatt and Dave Livolsi.
