Steve Duncan

Steve Duncan (born May 18, 1950 in Atlanta, Georgia) is a homebuilder and real estate developer and one of three candidates to qualify in the 2010 Republican primary to fill the Jefferson County Commission District 5 seat left open when Jim Carns decided not to run for re-election.

Duncan earned his bachelor's degree in business administration at the University of Georgia in 1973 and went to work as a loan officer for the Fulton National Bank in Atlanta. In 1975 he left and spent three years as a developer for Lemox Properties in Pensacola, Florida. He came to Birmingham to work for Tricon Metals in 1978. He left in 2005 as a vice-president to focus on Duncan Properties, which he had launched in 1983.

He and his wife Sherry are currently members of Brookwood Baptist Church, having formerly attended Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church. The couple have two children.
