Notes

For the original article, almost all the information came from the "About Us" page at the school's web site. I remember it as the "Alabama Barber College," although could no longer say for sure whether that's what the signage said or not. The original address was in a small strip mall on Roebuck Plaza Drive between Parkway East and Shopping Center Drive. Google Earth imagery shows the strip mall was torn down in 2003 to make way for the Walmart located on the site of the Kmart that was behind it. I do not remember the name of the strip mall, if it had one. The bit about it moving is based purely on my memories, so take with a grain of salt. I remember it as being in another strip mall on the west side of Parkway East, north of Gadsden Highway, but visited it so few times at that location I couldn't pinpoint it unless the signs were still there. --Lkseitz 07:09, 12 May 2014 (PDT)

  • I don't think that strip mall on Roebuck Plaza Drive had a name. When I moved to Center Point in 1995, there was a beauty salon in that strip mall called Shear Technique or something similar, my (now ex-)wife's stylist was located there. I vaguely remember the barber college being up on Parkway East near the old Food Giant and Costa's Mediterranean during the mid-90s up until the last 5 years or so. There was also a pretty decent Chinese restaurant in the strip in Roebuck as well. That strip mall is now part of Wal-Mart's parking lot as you stated. --Wheresdib 07:18, 12 May 2014 (PDT)
    • Yeah, after looking at Street View, I think it was over near the Food Giant building. After Googling for the previous address and looking at it on Street View, it looks familiar (and not another strip mall after all), so the school may have only had three addresses since its founding. --Lkseitz 11:50, 12 May 2014 (PDT)
