I wish there were someway the spirit of the event could be expressed I dont think its whitewashing here at all I think its more like stripping it bare and making it sound glum. The deal was, it was a glamorous grouping of revelers in "Gothic" attire donned in black and crosses listening to the best DJ B'ham ever had. John Kelley was that. It was the waiting for Thursday night to come around and actually preparing for what you would wear. So fun. Club kids just expressing themselves is not so glum. • There is a way, I am just trying to get it there while following BW guidelines. Having sources would help greatly, of course. --Wheresdib 10:49, 22 February 2008 (PST)
  • I reverted my edits. I am done with this one. Someone else will have to make it fit the BhamWiki:Policy. --Wheresdib 11:24, 22 February 2008 (PST)
I feel that this article is difficult to put into Bhamwiki because it is so esoteric and is about a feeling and a movement and being about a certain place at a certain time. I think is is just to experiential to explain in a few words. It was a movement so to speak. I do appreciate you keeping it above board though. Artsojourner 12:44, 22 February 2008 (PST)
You're right. The scope of the BhamWiki project is too limited to encompass the bigger picture of what Club 21 "meant". I bet André at The Terminal would be very excited to have a more heartfelt remembrance of that time and place, though. You should get in touch with him! --Dystopos 13:08, 22 February 2008 (PST)

Explaining a subculture

  • We need to figure out some way to indicate how important Club 21 was to the goth subculture without making unsupportable claims or veering into cultural criticism. I'll think on it. --Dystopos 06:21, 27 February 2008 (PST)
