former locations

  • for what it's worth, i believe the Roebuck shopping Center location relocated (if memory serves) a block down & across the street from the shopping center - at some point in its life. it was a stand-alone restaurant at the corner of 4th ave. S. and Roebuck Pkwy/Parkway East/1st Av. N. (whatever it is called there), across from the funeral home and what used to be Birmingham Suzuki. it is a small car lot/van rental place now, next to a "spa." i believe the stand alone bldg may have begun as another food joint, but at some point Johnny Ray's moved in towards the end of its original Roebuck tenure. (shootings at the Cinema City 8 may have had something to do with it) i can not verify that at all, so i won't change it.fats 19:41, 2 January 2010 (PST)
  • i do know that the center point location relocated back to roebuck at some point in the 90's, catercornered across from the Roebuck shopping center/city/marketplace, at the intersection of shopping center drive and Roebuck Pkwy/Pkwy East. it lasted for a very short while. it is now one of those quick cash places.fats 19:41, 2 January 2010 (PST)
    • Yes, the CP location (now a Whataburger, in a former Long John Silver's), closed between 1996 and 1998 and was moved to a new building on Parkway East. I can't remember the exact year, but it was after I moved to CP in '95. The CP building was torn down and Donatos Pizza built a new building there. It lasted maybe a year and sat vacant until 2005 when WB took it over. --Wheresdib 20:15, 2 January 2010 (PST)

Reopening 2009

So did any of the locations listed as "reopening 2009" actually do so? The Johnny Ray's website still lists them as "coming soon". --Lkseitz 12:19, 3 February 2011 (PST)
