Alternate names

  • Not sure the best way to handle alternate names. Redirects are good, of course, but within this list, how would you find them? Do you even need to be able to? --Dystopos (talk) 09:44, 25 October 2016 (PDT)
    • I don't think you need redirects, but I think you do need to have the alternate name column in the listing. If I were searching for a specific cemetery I would either type it into the main search box on any wiki page or I would open the cemetery listing page, press Ctrl-F to open the FIND dialog box, and type it in there.       • Typing it into the main search box is what makes redirects critical. I'll probably thin the "alternate names" to true alternates instead of just variations (Lacey's Chapel Cemetery as an alternate for Abernathy Family Cemetery, but not Bethel Baptist Cemetery as an alternate for Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery). In any case, if I know what name is on an actual physical sign standing at the site, that's the one I'll use for the main entry. --Dystopos (talk) 07:43, 26 October 2016 (PDT)

Birmingham

Size

  • And today I think it might be wise to make a list of "major" cemeteries (>500 grave sites, perhaps) and a separate list of smaller cemeteries. --Dystopos (talk) 08:53, 9 April 2018 (PDT)

Alabama Historic Cemetery Register date

  • What do you think about adding a column for the date that a cemetery was added to the register ? Also maybe add a CATEGORY for the Alabama Historic Cemetery Register, as well. Robert Matthews (talk) 17:50, 16 September 2023 (PDT)
    • I'm in favor of creating a category. I'm not sure the date of listing adds much to this table (as opposed to a table of "Cemeteries on the Alabama Historic Cemetery Register"), but that info should appear in individual articles. --Dystopos (talk) 08:30, 17 September 2023 (PDT)
