Talk:Moss Rock Festival

I've been wanting to write an article about this festival, but I never saw anything about it in the papers. I volunteered with the Alabama Geocachers Association, and we sponsored GPS treasure hunts for kids. We had hundreds of people over the two days show up. The Friends of Moss Rock Nature Preserve also led hikes into the Moss Rock Nature Preserve. I just don't have any references to site for this. There were seemingly hundreds of artist tents as well as live music and other kid-centric events as well. I know that we can't self-author anything on this site without references, but how can I get around the fact that no one else seems to be reporting on something good that happened in our city? --Wheresdib 09:20, 6 November 2006 (PST)

  • For relatively uncontroversial factual claims, the need for citations is diminished. (Though It's always better to have them than not). Most of the new West End Theater article, for example, is based on what I was told in an emailed tip. So if you wanted to add the fact of the Friends' hikes and the Geocaching activities without a specific citation, that would be fine. I think most of that is on the website anyway. I wouldn't say anything about the number of participants (even "seemingly") without some reference. The newspaper article did mention the organizer's attendance estimate, which might be worth adding. --Dystopos 09:34, 6 November 2006 (PST)
