    • OK, I think I have the straight dope. The distillery was always at 1215 Ave B. A distribution house was located at 2431 2nd Avenue North. And there's a small chance some Motlow or other had an interest in the Birmingham Distilling Company at 1300 7th Avenue North. The Pratt City Distilling Company doesn't show up until 1915, and is listed with M. H. Barnes and W. A. Brown as owners. A "Kentucky Distilling Company" appeared with J. D. Evans as manager at the same time, located at 2230 2nd Ave. N. --Dystopos 17:35, 1 August 2010 (PDT)

More Motlows

  • The 1911 directory also lists a "Dixie Motlow", teacher at Bush School, boarding at 1719 Avenue C Ensley, a "Mary Motlow", teacher at Wylam School, boarding at 1719 Avenue G Ensley (one or the other could be a typo), and a "Mary E. Motlow" (widow of Zadock) boarding at 2112 Avenue F Ensley. Zadock was the father of Felix Motlow and grandfather of Lem, Spoon and Thomas. --Dystopos 17:35, 1 August 2010 (PDT)
