Cross Burnings

In the same section where it is stated that Simmons seeks to rebuild the Klan on the inspiration of Thomas Dixon's (1905) book, there is a note that attributes the initiation of cross burnings to the (1915) movie. D.W. Griffith made the 1915 movie (Birth of a Nation) based on the 1905 book which depicted cross burnings. Just curious what someone might think with regards to the accuracy of the note in the text..--Gene Wilson (talk) 17:06, 25 May 2017 (PDT)

• I'm removing the footnote. I had gotten the impression from sources that the fires were taken from the film, but since they are definitely described in the book, as well, the first paragraph of the KKK section suffices. Thanks for catching that. --Dystopos (talk) 06:29, 26 May 2017 (PDT)
