Tarpley City is a neighborhood in the Grasselli community of Birmingham. It lies between West Goldwire to the east and East Brownville and Grasselli Heights to the west on the north slope of Red Mountain, north of the Oxmoor neighborhood and south of the Jones Valley neighborhood and Riley-Travellick

The neighborhood is bounded by the Birmingham Mineral Railroad to the north; 37th Street Southwest, Rutledge Avenue and Wilson Road/Venice Road to the west; Red Mountain to the south; and 33rd Street Southwest to the east. Ishkooda-Wenonah Road divides the residential section of the neighborhood from the undeveloped Red Mountain Park.

All of Tarpley is in Birmingham City Council District 7. School age children in the neighborhood attend Oxmoor Valley Elementary School, Jones Valley Middle School, and Wenonah High School. Wenonah High and Lawson State Community College are located in Tarpley City. Tarpley City Park is located between Grasselli Avenue and Carver Avenue in the southeast section of the neighborhood.

Rosalind Young is president of the Tarpley City Neighborhood Association, which meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month in the Thelma H. Catlin Auditorium at Lawson State Library.
