Tax Busters was a political organization which formed in 1986 to campaign against a proposed $65 million bond package, which was proposed by the City of Birmingham to fund a variety of capital projects, and which would be paid back by raising property taxes by 5 mills (0.5%). It was made up primarily of "eastern-area white residents."

The group reformed in May 1988 to campaign against another proposed $110 million bond package, also tied to a 5-mill property tax increase. Both of those proposals were rejected by voters.

In 1989 the city proposed a new $75 million bon program, which was approved by voters despite the efforts of Tax Busters. The group did not participate in another $110 million bond referendum in 1993, which was also successful.
