Biddy Owens is a fictional character, the purported author of The Journal of Biddy Owens, one volume in the "My Name is America" series of books, which are written for young readers from the purported points of view of witnesses to various periods in American history. As invented by author Walter Dean Myers, Owens' journal chronicles the 1948 Birmingham Black Barons season from the perspective of the team's teenaged equipment manager.

Owens' journal describes family life as well as public life for an African American boy in Birmingham, as well as the experience of visiting other cities in the North and South as part of a traveling baseball club. The real Black Barons, such as Piper Davis and Willie Mays appear in the story as characters, as do the stars of other teams they faced. National events such as the integration of the Major Leagues and of the U. S. Armed Forces, and Babe Ruth's death also figure into the tale.
