The Stockyard at Railroad Park

The Stockyard at Railroad Park is a 21,000 square-foot mixed use office, residential and retail/restaurant redevelopment located at 1608–1620 2nd Avenue South on Block 125 in Birmingham's Parkside District.

Beginning in 2013, Shannon Waltchack undertook to renovate and expand the former Affordable Office Furniture Co. building, demolishing an adjacent building which had housed the Dairy Products Co. for use as a parking lot. The name of the $1.965 million project, and suggestions for a full-service restaurant tenant, were solicited through a public contest.

The Birmingham Design Review Committee approved the architectural plans by CCR Architecture & Interiors in May 2014. The design incorporated many repurposed salvaged materials, including a grain silo and 18 shipping containers. The design won an "Honor Award in Adaptive Reuse" from AIA Birmingham in 2016.

The first phase of the Stockyard opened in February 2015. Shannon Waltchack relocated their offices from the National Biscuit Co. building. Scout Branding also leased 6,295 square feet at the development, moving their offices from Pepper Place.

The second phase included 7,000 square feet of additional office space and eight loft apartments. A rooftop deck would have views into Regions Field.
