The Worship Center Christian Church
The Worship Center Christian Church (TWCCC) is a 8,500 member nondenominational Christian congregation located at 100 Derby Parkway. The church was founded in March 2006 by pastor Van Moody. The church met at Moody's home, then at L. R. Hall Auditorium, Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church, the former Word of Life Christian Center at 9553 Parkway East, before moving to the Word of Life's 2006 building on Derby Parkway on August 4, 2013.
Worship Center sponsors more than 30 ministries, including a prison ministry and a Bible institute.
A second worship service began meeting at Pelham High School. In 2010 the church purchased the former Trinity Life Church building in Bessemer out of foreclosure for $1.9 million as a new home for their branch campus. The church also bought 22 acres of adjoining land and spent $3 million in to make repairs and bring the 4-year-old building up to code before dedicating the new campus in June 2011.
In 2013, Worship Center was able to purchase Word of Life's 56,000 square-foot building on a 172-acre campus on Derby Parkway, built in 2006, from Regions Bank for $6 million. The main assembly space accommodates 1,500 worshippers and sophisticated multimedia presentation equipment. The expansive lobby shelters a bookstore and a coffee shop. An adjoining educational building provided children's classroom space. The $14 million facility was designed by Gresham Smith and Partners and constructed by Myrick, Gurosky & Associates.
