Train was a band formed around 1969 with guitarist Truman Dale Carr, bassist Robert Alexander, drummer Jasper Guarino, and singer Michael Gunnels.

According to Gunnels, the band was responsible for getting the City of Birmingham to reopen Avondale Park to the public after it was closed in 1963 in defiance of court-ordered racial integration. Train was the first of many local bands to perform free Sunday afternoon concerts at the park's amphitheater for an appreciative crowd of hippies.
