War on Dumb

War on Dumb was a weekly column authored by Kyle Whitmire and published in Birmingham Weekly, primarily focused on political culture in Birmingham, Jefferson County and Alabama.

On June 7, 2008 the column was awarded first place for best political column in the 55,000-and-under circulation division by the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies and the Medill School of Journalism.

The column, originally entitled "Spin Cycle", ran from 2001 until Whitmire's departure from the Weekly on January 28, 2010.
